This Saturday, November 5th PetYen is joining forces with Billy Wolf and Bocce’s Bakery for TM1985’s Presidential Pup Pop Up Party and we’re super excited! Not only do we get to collaborate with some of the most innovative and stylish pet brands in NYC, but we also get to hang out with all the neighborhood pups (bring yours!!) AND we’re doing it for a good cause: to bring a little cheer to this dog-fight of an election! Not to mention there will be some celebrity sitings with @brussel.sprouts and @newyorkdog…. so that’s pretty major.

What’s also awesome is this event brought together some old friends. PetYen’s Julie and Tielor McBride, CEO & Founder of TM1985, use to work together at Ralph Lauren! They hadn’t seen each other for years until Sunday, June 26th at Smith Street’s Sunday Funday when Tielor sauntered up to the PetYen Treat Station and announced he had just launched his new leather goods store around the corner! Quite a serendipitous reunion. Not only was it great to catch up, but Tielor also revealed his plans for hosting some dog-friendly events in his new shop (he makes some sick accessories for the canine folk)! And then months later… The Presidential Pup Pop Up was born!

We asked Tielor a little bit about the event and here’s what he had to say:

1) You started your line TM1985 in 2010 with the roll-top backpack- how did you line evolve from there?
The line is perpetually growing, and backpacks are no longer the only product available: totes, wallets, dopp kits, gadget pouches, tech cases, and clutches are all included in TM1985’s rapidly expanding line, which is currently available in 50 stores around the states as well as in Japan and Australia.

2) How did you come to choose Carroll Gardens as the site of your flagship store?
Choosing Carroll Gardens had a lot to do with the uniqueness of the block. We felt it had a great community of stores and a great vibe! Plus we needed a centralized HQ for our showroom, inventory and office space. Carroll Gardens is centrally located between the team in Brooklyn and our workshop space in North Bergen NJ. It works really well!

3) How do dogs play a role in your line? Are you a dog or pet owner? If so, please tell us a little bit about your pet and if he/she plays any role in your creative process.
I am the proud father of two very fluffy Corgis fur children. One is about 15 and the other is 6 so there is a big difference in energy level, diet and walking needs! I try to bring then to the shop as much as possible. They have be come the most “FURfect” Sales dogs!

4) How did you come up with the idea of the Presidential Pup Pop Up?
We have seen how much this neighborhood really loves their pets and though it would be a great to collab with our friends in the pet world to do a pop-up. The presidential part came from the timing. This election has been a bit of a dogfight, pun defiantly intended, and we thought it would be good to lighten the mood and had a party! All dogs welcome!

So come join PetYen and #barkthevote at TM1985 we’ve got some great games. photo booths and raffles ready for you!
